New Hyundai Electric SUV To Get Next-Gen Connected Car Tech As Standard


Hyundai Motor India has confirmed the launch of a new mass-market electric SUV for the 2026 Diwali festive season. It will be the brand’s first locally developed and the most affordable EV (electric vehicle) for the Indian market. Once launched, the new Hyundai electric SUV will be positioned against the segment leader – the Tata Nexon EV.

While the official specifications, features and other key details are still under the wraps, the carmaker has revealed that the new EV will feature Hyundai’s next-generation connected car technology. Interestingly, this new connected car tech will be offered as standard across the entire lineup.

Over 8 Lakh Hyundai Connected Cars in India

Hyundai Motor India has announced that over 8 lakh connected cars are currently running on Indian roads. With the increasing adoption of Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car platform, the carmaker aims to achieve 10 lakh cumulative connected car sales by 2027 and 20 lakh by 2030.

Hyundai Bluelink offers more than 70 connected features, including remote vehicle monitoring, vehicle health diagnostics, location tracking, trip history, remote commands, in-car payment powered by Hyundai Pay, Digital Key, Digital Passport, Remote Immobilizer and Home-to-Car Connectivity. Bluelink also supports 450+ AI-powered voice commands across five languages.

Hyundai Compact Electric SUV Powertrain

Codenamed Hyundai HE1i, the upcoming Hyundai electric SUV is expected to be based on the Hyundai Inster EV, which is sold in select global markets. The Inster EV is available with two battery pack options, 42kWh and 49kWh, offering a claimed driving range of 300km and 355km, respectively. The battery pack takes just 30 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent by a DC fast charger supporting up to 120kW.

The new Hyundai EV will be designed on E-GMP platform and feature a tall and boxy stance. Expected features include a dual screen setup, OTA updates, wireless smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and more.
