India’s most affordable sub-4 metre SUV (or compact crossover), the Tata Punch, is set to receive a midlife update tomorrow – i.e. 13th January, 2026. Prior to its official price announcement, the updated model has started reaching dealerships and the carmaker has already revealed its variants and key features. The new Tata Punch 2026 facelift will come in six trims including Smart (new entry-level), Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Accomplished and Accomplished+.

Price Prediction
While official prices will be announced tomorrow, the 2026 Tata Punch facelift is expected to cost slightly higher than the pre-facelift model, which is currently priced between Rs 5.50 lakh – Rs 9.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new entry-level Smart+ variant is expected to be priced nearly Rs 6 lakh. If this happens, the updated Punch could lose its title as India’s most affordable SUV as the Hyundai Exter micro SUV is currently available within the price range of Rs 5.74 lakh – Rs 9.61 lakh. Meanwhile, the top-end variant of the new Punch is expected to cost nearly Rs 9.50 lakh.
New Turbo Petrol Engine
Starting with the engine setup. The new Tata Punch 2026 facelift will be offered with a new 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Sourced from the Nexon, this motor pushes out a maximum power of 120PS and 170Nm of torque.
NA Petrol & CNG Remain On Offer
The facelifted lineup will continue to be available with the existing 1.2L petrol and 1.2L petrol + CNG powertrain options. The naturally aspirated petrol engine dishes out a peak power of 88PS and 115Nm of torque, while the CNG version delivers 73.5PS and 103Nm. Transmission options will also be carried over from the pre-facelift and include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speeed automated manual (AMT) gearbox.
