The next-generation Kia Seltos launch is just around the corner. While the official launch date and details are yet to be announced, the SUV is likely to arrive in December 2025. According to a fresh media report, the 2026 Kia Seltos lineup will receive a new 7-speed automatic gearbox, which will be exclusively offered with the diesel variants.
The current-gen Seltos diesel uses a 1.5L engine, available with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options. The new-gen Kia Seltos will be one of the first diesel cars in its segment to feature a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Tata Curvv already offers a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) with its 1.5L diesel engine.

The report further suggests that the introduction of the 7AT unit could result in lower noise and vibrations, quicker mid-range response, reduced emissions and better fuel efficiency. However, we’ll be able to confirm its real-world performance only after driving the new Seltos.

New Kia Seltos 2026 – What to Expect?
The 2026 Kia Seltos is expected to receive significant upgrades inside the cabin. The SUV might borrow the Trinity Panoramic display from the Syros, which comprises of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 5-inch touchscreen for climate control functionalities. A few more goodies are also likely to be added to the package.
While the official design details will be revealed near its launch, the new Kia Seltos 2026 is expected feature the brand’s new ‘Opposites United’ design language. Upfront, it will sport a newly-designed grille, redesigned fog lamps and slim and angular vertical DRLs. The SUV might also come with the new alloy wheels and connected taillamps.
In global markets, the 2026 Kia Seltos will reportedly grow in size. Its overall length is expected to be increased by around 100mm, which will make it even longer than the Jeep Compass. However, it remains unclear whether the India-spec version will retain its existing dimensions or grow longer.
