Renault Reveals BIG India Plan – 7 New Cars & 2 New Platforms

In what is being globally billed as Renault’s FuturREady mid-term plan, the French automaker has announced seven new models along with two new platforms that will support multiple powertrains including ICE (internation combustion engine), electric, hybrid and CNG. Francois Provost, CEO at Renault Group, revealed that the company aims to achieve a 5 percent market share in India, which he described as “one of the fastest-growing and most demanding market globally.”

All seven planned models are scheduled to arrive by 2030. The carmaker has a major emphasis on localisation, new-age technologies and profitability. In parallel with its product expansion strategy, Renault also plan to turn India into a strategic export hub to capitalise on its domestic manufacturing and engineering expertise for global operations.

Two New Platforms

One of the two new architectures is the newly-introduced RGEP (Renault Group Entry Platform), which underpins the next-gen Renault Duster. It’s essentially the heavily modified version of the CMF-A platform, supporting multiple body-styles and powertrains. The RGEP platform is also compatible with 2WD, 4WD and e4WD configurations along with AMT and CVT transmissions.

Renault claims that the RGEP architecture has been developed with over 90 percent localization, enabling competitive pricing, while allowing for product upgrades, enhance flexibility and improved vehicle dynamics.

Focus on Localisation

In order to develop these two new platforms, Renault India has made significant investments in local engineering and employs around 6,000 engineers at its Chennai facility. The carmaker also plans to expand its footprint to 350 sales touchpoints, 450 service centers, 15,000 employees and over 130 local suppliers.

What’s Next From Renault?

The French carmaker is set to launch Renault Duster hybrid by Diwali 2026. Interestingly, the hybrid SUV has already been sold out even before its official price announcement, and bookings are currently closed.

The Renault Duster hybrid features a 1,789cc, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. This setup delivers a combined power of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.
