Years of rumors can finally be put to rest – Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable, earlier this week. It’s not a cheap phone – here’s the pricing breakdown. That said, its starting price of $2,000 / £2,000 / €2,300 / ₹300,000 is quite close to the Z Fold8’s price of $1,900 / £1,700 / €2,000 / ₹180,000 in most regions (with the obvious exception of India).

Indeed, the Z Fold8 will be the Duo’s strongest rival. We have a detailed specs comparison between the two if you are interested in a closer look. We also examined the other wide foldable alternatives that are on the market, but it’s a short list – the Z Fold8 (widely available), the new Xiaomi 18 Fold (not expected in North America) and the Huawei Pura X Max (not expected outside of China).

iPhone Duo highlights
Apple touts that the iPhone Duo has the largest display of any iPhone so far and how good that is for multitasking. It also flaunts the foldable’s flexibility – it’s great for videos and for video calling, since it can stand up on its own. It has a powerful set of cameras with a 48MP 1/1.28” main and a 48MP 120° ultra-wide, plus an under-display camera inside. And the Apple A20 Pro just leapt to the top of the Geekbench charts. You can watch a longer official video introduction of the Duo here.
Apple also unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The vanilla iPhone 18 along with any 18e, Air2 and other such models will have to wait until next year.

iPhone 18 Pro highlights
As for the iPhone 18 Pro, it brings the more powerful A20 Pro chipset (Apple’s first 2nm chip), the 48MP main camera now has a variable aperture (f/1.5-f/4.0) and the battery is slightly larger – 4,056mAh for the SIM and 4,288mAh for the eSIM model, compared to 3,998mAh and 4,252mAh for the same versions of the 17 Pro.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max has the same upgrades, except that the battery gains are more substantial – 5,391mAh for the SIM and 5,567mAh for the eSIM model, compared to 4,823mAh and 5,088mAh for the 17 Pro Max.

The current iPhone lineup
Here are the starting prices for the three new iPhones. We should also note that Apple raised the prices on the iPhone 17, 16 and Air models. And, as usual, it discontinued the old Pro models (i.e. Apple.com no longer sells iPhone 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max).
