With the trade deadline approaching, a lot of people in NBA are having sleepless nights, but not Draymond Green. Despite some controversial plays on the court, the 35-year-old continues to prove his loyalty to the Warriors, even when it comes at a time when a league-shifting trade is on the line. The Golden State Warriors are interested in acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo, but their roster salary cap isn’t enough, nor do they have space on the bench. In order to make space for the Greek Freak, the Warriors’ front office would have to let go of their core players. But Draymond Green isn’t worried

Draymond Green not bothered with the trade deadline buzz

With the February 5 NBA trade deadline, a lot of heartbeats are racing at an all-time high as everyone is eyeing the biggest name on the potential trade market: Giannis Antetokounmpo. But in this uncertain environment, the only person who remains calm is their veteran defender, Draymond Green. Following Warriors’ 131–124 loss to the Detroit Pistons on January 30, 2026, when Green was asked by the media about his take on the approaching trade deadline, he addressed the rumors with the same bluntness that he’s known for. He said, “I’ve been here for 14 years. I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving. But if I’m traded, that’s part of the business. I ain’t losing no sleep though. I slept great last night.”The Warriors are currently sitting at the 8th seed in the West with a 27–23 record. With Jimmy Butler sidelined due to a season-ending ACL tear, Warriors’ General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. is surely under immense pressure to maximize Stephen Curry’s last year on contract. Though Curry forms a great deal of their offensive power, the lack of support has been washing away all his efforts.

Draymond Green’s impact on Warriors’ roster

Currently, Draymond Green is under a 4-year $100 million contract, and is set to earn a base salary of $25.8 million for the 2025-26 season. Green’s presence on the court remains a point of assurance for the Warriors’ defense, and his coordination with Stephen Curry also plays a big role in the team’s playmaking. In the loss to Detroit, Green posted 15 points on the board with 6 rebounds and 7 assists while shooting 4-of-9 from deep. This versatility provides more value to Green’s presence. “I’m not going to go up there and be like, ‘Yo, so tell me what y’all doing. I’ll be the same as I always am. My phone is always on. I’m always willing to collaborate in any way I can,” says Green, showcasing willingness to be a part of the organization’s blueprint. As per NBC Sports’ Monte Poole, the only unmovable piece in the Warriors puzzle over Giannis’ potential deal is Stephen Curry. With the deadline clock ticking down, the Warriors are facing a franchise-altering decision. But Draymond remains unbothered by the uncertain future. He’s done his work, and the rest, as he says, is just business.
